How to get to Chanonry Point

By Bus

The 26A/B/C Stagecoach service operates to and from Inverness Bus Station to the Black Isle. The journey takes about 25 minutes.

Disembark in Fortrose at the 2nd stop by the old church. From there, pick up the Dolphin Shuttle for Chanonry Point.

The Dolphin Shuttle runs from 1st April until 28th August 2018 - see timetable below.

If your visit begins in Rosemarkie the Dolphin Shuttle starts at Marine Terrace on the beach front.


Adult Single - £1.50 (return £2.50)

Child single - £0.75 (return £1.25)

Family ticket - (2 adults and up to 3 children)

Single - £4.00 and a Return - £7.00

Please note:  Stagecoach Day Rider tickets are not valid on the
Dolphin Shuttle.

Dolphin Shuttle Timetable Canonry Point, Fortrose and Rosemarkie Chanonry Point Tide Times

By car

During the Highland schools summer holiday (July 2nd - August 20th 2018) 'Park and Stride' at Fortrose Leisure Centre car park.

Route: Walk from Fortrose Leisure Centre down Greengates pathway onto the road which takes you towards Fortrose Bay caravan site. From there follow the coastline to Chanonry Point. It’s approximately 1 mile.and sturdy shoes are recommended.  

Alternatively, start at Rosemarkie and walk along Marine Terrace. Chanonry Point will be visible in the distance (1 mile approximately).   

Please note: there is limited parking at Chanonry Point and car parking charges will operate for the 2018 season. There are no food outlets and no toilet facilities.

There are public toilets in Rosemarkie at the car park opposite The Plough Inn and in Fortrose on Station Road. Rosemarkie and Fortrose have good eating places and interesting shops. Visit Fortrose Cathedral and Groam Museum, a Pictish centre in Rosemarkie.
