Dolphin Trips Avoch
The boat is named Corbiere and can comfortably carry up to 12 passengers. It has a waterjet engine which means it has no moving parts under the water and is therefore ideal for wildlife watching. With an excellent power to weight ratio it leaves a very small carbon footprint.
Where to find Dolphin Trips Avoch
The dolphin boat sets sail from Avoch Harbour which is fairly close to Chanonry Point (approximately 3 miles). Although sightings can’t be guaranteed, there are regular sightings of seals, red kites, and bottlenose dolphins!

Things to do and see in Avoch, Fortrose and Rosemarkie
Taking a boat trip to see the Moray Firth Dolphins is definitely one of the highlights for many visitors to Avoch however, the village itself is not too far from Fortrose, how of Chanonry Point.
The striking ruins of Fortrose Cathedral are well worth a visit. This 13th-century cathedral is one of the most important historical sites on the Black Isle and is now looked after by Historic Environment Scotland. It’s free to visit.

Groam House is situated in Rosemarkie and houses a great collection of Pictish stones including the Rosemarkie Stone which was carved the 8th century and depicts both Pictish and Christian elements.
And of course, Fortrose is where you will find Chanonry Point where the bottle nose dolphins of the Moray Firth are regularly spotted.
Accommodation in Avoch, Fortrose and Rosemarkie
Accommodation options are very limited in Avoch and even wider afield. Some local accommodation can be found in nearby Fortose. This happens to be near Chanonry Point so it’s an ideal location for land based dolphin watching at Chanonry Point.
Fortrose Bay Campsite is a popular location, and an ideal place to stay for some dolphin watching. The site caters for tents, touring caravans and motor homes. Bed and Breakfast accommodation includes Hillhaven B&B in Fortrose Village.
Many tourists choose to stay in Inverness where there is a wide selection of hotels, B&B and self-catering accommodation.
