Watch Dolphins at North Kessock
Just north of Inverness, over the Kessock Bridge lies the village of North Kessock. The shoreline offers excellent dolphin spotting opportunities over the Beauly Firth. Dolphin sightings are frequent in this area as they often travel up the Beauly Firth after thay have been at Chanonry Point. It’s also a much more peaceful than Chanonry Point and much easier to park!
There’s plenty of space for watching and you’ll find that even if there are no dolphins around there are great views of the Kessock Bridge and Inverness as well as views west along the Firth.
You’ll find a few seats next to the old ferry jetty, which makes a good viewing point. There are also places to eat and drink nearby and the Aurorabearealis Art and Craft Studio is well worth a visit.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Up the hill near the tourist information centre used to be the the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Centre (WDC) at North Kessock. However, this closed in 2015. The Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay near Focabers in Moray remains open and is operated by WDC.
