Travel : Moray Firth
There are a number of options for flying into Inverness. From England check London Gatwick, Luton, Bristol and Birmingham. There’s also a regular flight from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The only regular direct flight from mainland Europe is from Amsterdam. However, most of these airports are to some extent hubs and provide scope for connecting flights.
Inverness Airport is delightfully small and it’s a short walk to onward transport transfer options. There is a regular Jet bus transfer to Inverness in addition to a taxi rank and car hire services. There is also a new train station which is a very approximate 15 minutes walk from the terminal so another great way to transfer from the airport to Inverness.
Most of the locations mentioned in this guide to the Moray Firth Dolphins will have one or two hotels, bed and breakfasts and self catering options nearby. See also our accommodation information pages including Inverness Area Hotels and Moray Speyside Hotels and self catering accommodation.
Inverness Railway Station is 5 minutes walk from the Bus Station and they are both central. Both have staffed ticket information centres. The Bus Station also has lots of tourist information. The main tourist information centre is 10 minutes walk on the High Street.
If you are travelling along the Moray Firth many tourists hire cars. The bus service is fairly rural, although with planning it’s possible to put together a reasonable itinerary.
